Gitaway Farm

Our farm started
with family.

A closer connection to the food we raise, from our family’s table to yours.

Gitaway Farm began with a question that mattered to me as a father: What am I feeding my children, and where does it come from?

Both of my children have autism, and paying close attention to their individual needs—including what they eat—is part of our family’s everyday life. I wanted a closer connection to our food and a better understanding of how it was raised. That desire became the foundation of Gitaway Farm.

Why Highlands?

Their appearance caught my attention first. There is something majestic about a Highland standing in the field, with that long coat and those unmistakable horns. But as I researched cattle breeds and beef quality, my interest grew beyond their looks.

I became drawn to their hardiness, their ability to make use of forage, and their reputation for flavorful beef. Highlands became part of the kind of farm I wanted to build: a place where I could take an active role in raising food for my family.

From our family’s table to yours

At Gitaway Farm, we raise our cattle on a predominantly hay-based diet without added growth hormones. Knowing what goes into raising them matters to us, and we want our customers to have that same connection.

Our goal is to give other families access to the quality of beef we want for our own table, with straightforward answers about how our cattle are fed and raised.

Whether you’re asking about beef or considering a Highland for your own farm, we welcome the conversation. Gitaway Farm started with my children. Sharing what we’re building with other families is the next chapter.
